If the answer to any of the above is “Yes” then look no further This new innovative device from Disc-Cover Music will help you in your quest to unlock the secrets to musical theory.
Starting your musical journey and learning a new instrument can be a very rewarding experience, however it can also be very frustrating due to the multiple skills that need to be learned. There is also a bewildering world of theory out there and it can be difficult to know where to start. When learning your instrument of choice (electric guitar for me) we are keen to dive in and learn some killer riff or a bunch of chords so we can play along to our favourite songs. However over time there is the realisation that there is a black cloud of theory hanging over us that at some point in the future will need to be mastered! The ability to learn some theory will enhance your musical experience and will certainly help unlock the secrets of your instrument. But where and how do you start? Music theory is a massive subject. It can be confusing knowing where to begin. What is important and what can be left until later? Over Covid lockdown I had some time on my hands so set about learning some theory for myself. I had the idea for a simple wheel device that would assist me in my studies and also be a useful ready reckoner for standing data. The device would also be a launch pad for further study.
I believe the wheel can help you too!
Of course any simple device cannot cover every aspect of a huge subject like music theory, however a good grasp of the basics could be all the theory you need to enjoy playing your instrument. If you wished to study further, these basic building blocks would be a useful “launch pad” to further work if needed.
A serious student of music may find the device offers you nothing new. For example my nephew is currently on a master degree course in music at University – there is no question that the information on this device would seem pretty rudimentary to him. Conversely my cousin is just starting to learn guitar for the very first time – he may find some of the concepts a wee bit too complicated at this stage when he is only just learning how to get the guitar out of the case and which hole to blow into! (joke) However for the 99% of us somewhere in the middle of these two extremes – the wheel will certainly enhance your knowledge.
